Arie Luyendyk: Auto Racing Career and Net Worth
Arie Luyendyk is an auto racing driver with a net worth of $20 million. He began his racing career in the Netherlands and won the European Super Vee Championship in 1977. After moving to the United States, Luyendyk won the Super Vee Championship again in 1984 and was named “Rookie of the Year” in 1985 for his performance at the Indianapolis 500. He won the Indianapolis 500 in 1990 and 1997, setting a record for the highest average speed during the race that has yet to be surpassed. Luyendyk retired in 1999 but returned to racing after serving as a commentator for ABC Sports. He retired for good in 2003.
Arie Luyendyk’s son, Arie Luyendyk Jr., gained fame as a reality TV contestant on “The Bachelor.” He appeared as a contestant in season 8 and finished second. He then became the bachelor in season 17.
